6 Basic Human Needs :
There are 6 basic human needs. Are you getting your needs met? Do you feel like something is missing in your life? Maybe you aren’t fulfilling one or more of your basic needs. I hope that I can inspire you to do more and live your dreams! The list below is a description of the 6 basic human needs. These are from Anthony Robbins, peak performance strategist. His inspiring presentations always make me feel more motivated and excited!
-
Certainty –
The quality of being reliably true. Everyone needs to feel certain that they are in control of their lives. It’s comforting to know that we are in control and there will be no chaos.
-
Uncertainty/ Variety –
The quality or state of being different or diverse; the absence of uniformity, sameness, or monotony. We need variety so we aren’t bored with our lives. Surprises that we want are exciting!
-
Significance –
The quality of being worthy of attention; importance. We all need meaning in our lives. Feeling special makes us feel valued. Even my cats need this. Wesley is always seeking attention. He usually wants me to watch him eat his food(validation). Or feed him all the time!
-
Love & Connection –
Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. “I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” – Brene Brown. What she said! We can’t live without love. You can get love or connection from friendship, prayer, pets, or being out in nature. Having the approval of others is essential to our well beings. Being accepted means having a genuine connection with people. Even being an introvert you need relationships with other people.
-
Growth –
The process of growing; development. If we are not continuously growing we feel stuck. Learn something new constantly in all areas of your life. Become a lifelong learner.
-
Contribution –
Something that you give or do that helps something or someone to advance. Giving a back makes you feel like you’ve made a difference in whatever it is that you contributed to. That’s a good feeling knowing you helped someone in need.
Change is immediate, progress is a process. Knowing is different than doing. If there are any areas in your life you are lacking it’s never too late to start something new.
